Balcombe Estate Sawmill Terms of Business
Sawn wood orders
Our goods are not tested as fit for any particular purpose and liability falls to the customer as to how our timber is used. Balcombe Estate will not be held liable in any way for the mis ordering of orders and should a client make an order incorrectly and the order has already been cut and prepared, payment for that order will still be due.
Prices
Our prices are subject to alteration without prior notice.
Collection of sawn wood orders
Once the customer has been advised that an order is ready for collection either by phone, email or text it must be collected within 10 working days. Balcombe Estate reserve the right to have no further responsibility for the condition of the order after that time and we will not be held liable for any warp, shrinkage, splitting, waste/damage or any other movement caused by temperature, humidity or any other condition. On collection of sawn timber goods, the customer/customer representative must check the order for shortages, defects or damage before loading as no liability will fall to ourselves once the order leaves the yard.
Delivered sawn wood orders
Deliveries unless otherwise agreed will be left on the customers driveway or work site providing there is suitable access for our vehicles. The customer must provide clear delivery instructions including a full address, contact number and contact name. The customer must ensure that there is someone on site to assist and accept delivery unless pre-arranged. On delivery of sawn timber goods, the customer/customer representative must check the order for shortages, defects or damage in transit, as no liability will fall to ourselves once our representative has left. Balcombe Estate reserve the right to charge for re-delivery if the goods cannot be delivered on the date arranged and providing the fault is not of our making.
Payment of goods
Customers should also note that the ownership of the goods remains with Balcombe Estate sawmill until full payment has been made and we reserve the right to reclaim any goods that are not paid for in full. In no circumstances whatsoever shall our liability to our customer exceed the price invoiced if a complaint regarding our goods is found to be valid.
Logs
Our logs are cut from 1-year minimum seasoned cordwood however, they are not tested for moisture content and It is recommended that logs are stacked for one-year advance of use in a dry area with good air flow.
